National Park Skjern Å

In Nymindegab you are close to one of the five national parks of Denmark. The National Park Skjern Å, object to the biggest ecological restoration in Northern Europe, which has meant a restoration of the natural turns of the river and better conditions for bird and wild life. The new national park has created large, coherent nature areas and increases the possibilities for an out doors life and adventures in nature.

The project has been of great national and international importance for several rare and threatened animal species and plants. So now the otter is back in the river and you can be lucky to catch a Skjernå salmon, which used to be endangered. Further there are many breeding water fowls around the river and the moist, green meadows and the spoonbill is centre of attention.

The area is further full of historic traces from life in a river valley.
