Ringkøbing Fjord is the biggest fiord in West Jutland. The low bay with brackish water is almost 300 km² and surrounded by big beach meadows – especially in the area of Tipperne and Værnengene. A huge part of the bay is protected because of the rich bird life. The bay area is an important bed ground for migratory birds on their way south or north in spring and winter.
But the bay and the area as such is also blessing for anglers. It is possible to angle in the bay, the sea, in streams and lakes and at the sluice in Hvide Sande, where salt water is led into the bay, you can catch freshwater and salt water fish: flukes, eel, pikes, perch etc.
From the harbour in Hvide Sande you can go cod fishing in the North Sea or do some family friendly mackerel fishing closer to land. Fishing for herring from the jetty in Hvide Sande is also very popular and takes place twice a year.
Further, the river Skjern Å is a popular angling point for salmon, trouts and other delicious fish.
